Killeen Drivers Education Course
TDLR 101 Approved Drivers Education Course
Killeen teens under 18 years of age are asked to complete a driver education course and present the Texas Driver Education Certificate (DE-964) at the driver license office.
When applying for a Texas drivers license, the driving test is asked. The knowledge test will be waived if it was completed during the driver education course.
NOTE: An individual may start the online classroom phase of a driver education course at 14 years of age but cannot apply for a learner license until he/she is at least 15.
There are three types of driver education for teens:
- A traditional driver education course offered by a driver training school
- Parent-taught driver education (Approved)
- Driver education offered in public school
You can get your learners permit now by taking the online Killeen Drivers Education Approved 101 course, then the actual driving part must be completed with your parent or guardian. This drivers ed school is for All Texas High School students age 14-17. There is also a class for residents aged 18-24 who has yet to get their drivers license. The course is an easy follow along video enhanced animated instructional class. The classroom part of drivers ed is taken all online. It’s a step by step program and video guided throughout the entire course.
To get your Texas Drivers License learner’s permit students are generally asked to take the driver ed online class that includes both classroom time and driving time with a parent or guardian. This is a driver ed program that allow teenagers to complete this askment from their home.
Driver Education classes or physical driving schools are often a boring, expensive, or just plain inconvenient way to fulfill your driver education askment. Teens, just like everyone else, want the freedom to learn to drive when they want to and at their own pace!
Please click on the “Register” button above to learn about the different driver ed options offered. You can also get the driver education workbook or sign up for any of our driver ed home study programs online.
The High School student drivers ed course is for the Texas Department of Public Safety (Tx DPS) as the Approved class and The Texas Dept of Licensing and Regulations (TDLR).
The Approved 101 information below is all explained and a step by step program is included in the online course above. The Approved 101 online course will automatically complete the necessary fields asked by the Texas DPS with you has to take the course. See Texas Approved 101 Information as follows:
Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) was developed by the Department of Public Safety with the goal of saving lives through awareness and education. The intent of the program is meant to educate young or new drivers in an effort to reduce the risk of being involved in automobile crashes, particularly those caused by distracted driving.
ITTD is a 2 hour informational video that is a prerequisite to the drive skills examination being administered by the Department or a Third Party Skills Testing (TSPT) authorized school. ITTD must be viewed after you have received your DE-964, showing completion of a Teen Driver Education course.
Upon completion of the ITTD program you will receive a Certificate of Completion that must be presented prior to administering the drive skills examination. The ITTD Certificate of Completion must be dated within 90 days of the administered skills examination.
ITTD is available through a Third Party Skills Testing (TSPT) authorized school or the Department’s Impact Texas Teen Drivers website.
ATTENTION: Effective September 1, 2015, if you are taking a teen driver education course, you must complete the ITTD askment before you will be eligible to take the driving skills exam.
NOTE: ITTD does not replace the distracted driving module given in the 32 hours of driver education classroom phase. This program has been added to emphasize the ever increasing dangers of distracted driving.
Teens:
In order to test with a Third Party Skills Testing (TSPT) authorized school you must be at least 16 years of age, have held a valid learner license for a minimum of six months, completed Teen Driver Education in its entirety and the Impact Texas Teen Drivers (ITTD) course. You must present a completed DE-964 to the Third Party Skills Testing (TSPT) authorized school.
