Texas Younger (15-25) Years DSC – DDC Education Course Deferred Adjudication (Disposition)

Approximately 8 percent of all licensed drivers involved in fatal crashes are between 15 and 18 years old, and motor vehicle crashes remain the leading cause of death for this age group. Texas law asks persons under 25 to successfully complete a state-approved course in driver safety education pursuant to a moving traffic violation even when taking probation for the ticket/citation fine. Deferred Adjudication.

Note: These programs can be taken for educational purposes or may be ordered by a judge to meet the requirements of the judgment or probation.


Some Municipal Court and Justice Court (JP Court) Judges allow this course for community service credit.

Texas § 45.0511 : Texas Statutes – Article 45.0511: Texas Younger Under 25 DRIVING SAFETY COURSE DISMISSAL PROCEDURES

(a) Except as provided by Subsection (a-1), this article applies only to an alleged offense that:

(1) is within the jurisdiction of a justice court or a municipal court;

(2) involves violation of driving a motor vehicle; and

(3) is defined by:

(A) Section 472.022, Transportation Code;

(B) Subtitle C, Title 7, Transportation Code; or

(C) Section 729.001(a)(3), Transportation Code.

(a-1) If the defendant is younger than 25 years of age, this article applies to any alleged offense that:

(1) is within the jurisdiction of a justice court or a municipal court;

(2) involves violation of driving a motor vehicle; and

(3) is classified as a moving violation.
